Graduate Programs in VE and Related Areas

The Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) of the United States Department of Education federally funds the following two Rehabilitation Counseling Programs with Vocational Evaluation emphasis:

The following schools have offered Master’s degrees with an Emphasis in Vocational Evaluation in the past and continue to offer courses pertaining to Vocational Evaluation.


EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY – North Carolina

Note: Effective Spring 2019 semester, admissions to the Vocational Evaluation Certificate program will temporarily cease. Students currently enrolled or those admitted during Fall 2018 semester or who start Spring 2019, will be able to complete their matriculation plan and graduate. The Certificate in Vocational Evaluation provides students with the basic knowledge and professional skills needed to work as an evaluator in applied settings. The certificate is open to graduate students as well as non-degree students with a baccalaureate degree. The courses meet general academic requirements for vocational evaluators.

The program requires completion of 12 s.h. of coursework. Required courses include ADRE 6400 Introduction to Vocational Evaluation, 6401 Assessment or equivalent, plus 6 s.h. of electives (usually ADRE 6000 Medical Aspects of Disability and ADRE 6100 Occupational Analysis and Job Placement) chosen in consultation with the coordinator, Dr. Steven Sligar (sligars@ecu.edu or 252-744-6293).
