The VECAP Community of Practice

VECAP’s Virtual Community of Practice is provided as a web forum for practitioner concerns, ideas, and sharing of best practices. Several discussion areas have been posted as a beginning point for these discussions. We encourage you to post a comment or generate a new idea.

OPAC is very much office and clerical skill. They can be a little expensive if you get multiple licenses, but they use the live software for application tests. OPAC also has typing, proof reading and medical billing modules.

This is a free computer technician test. I went there now and it actually costs $9.95 but that is relatively cheap.
For more conceptual work in computers, the old SRA Computer Operator Aptitude Battery (COAB) stills is useful as it tests Sequence Recognition, Format (code) checking, and Logical Thinking Diagrams or flowcharts. I actually like this better than the Computer Programmer Aptitude Battery.
For hands-on work we have used the Singer Electronics Assembly work sample (you can simulate this); also Valpar’s newer work samples with circuit checking and soldering; and you can always take a defunct computer and have the client open it u p, remove and replace the memory chips, dust it out, or similar exercises.Hope this helps.
