In January 2009, President-Elect Fran Smith, Advocacy Committee Chair Pam Leconte, Communications Committee Chair, Joan Kester, Ambassador Stacie Dojonovic, and Member Lindsay Harris were invited to attend the IDEA Partnership meeting in Washington, DC. This new partnership with IDEA will provide connections with over 55 other national organization and associations seeking to promote IDEA’s ” participatory framework for advancing research and policy to practice”. We’re excited about this important connection and will be also working on efforts to strengthen the understanding and awareness of vocational evaluation and career assessment across the intersections of such topics as high school redesign and transition, autism spectrum disorders, universal design for learning, federal and state stakeholder information exchange, and building a digital library of resources. We are growing! As a valued member of VECAP, we’ve added a new members only area which provides our members access to several important resources. For example, full PDF versions of our VECAP journal can be downloaded. Access to our newly debuted Work Sample Exchange offers access to the Stout Materials Development Center (MDC) guide manual for developing work samples. In addition, several locally developed work samples from various VECAP vocational evaluators are listed and accessible for your use. Finally, we are in the process of adding PDF copies of papers submitted at the National Issues Forums. More to come - stay tuned!
