OUR HISTORY

VECAP is a nonprofit organization originally founded in 1967 to promote the professions and services of vocational evaluation and work adjustment. Originally known as the Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Organization (VEWAA), the name “VECAP” was established in 2003 to better reflect the specialized focus of the organization.

Over the past decade, VECAP’s membership has expanded significantly, and is proudly comprised of professionals from a variety of disciplines. One of our greatest strengths is our diverse membership pool which includes strong representation from vocational evaluators, special educators, workforce development professionals, career/guidance counselors, the justice system and others with a vested interest in vocational evaluation and career assessment.

OUR VISION

VECAP is a growing member organization with a strong virtual presence. Members are served both by print and electronic resources, particularly targeting their professional development needs. The web portal is convenient and easy to find information and to upgrade skills. Seminal texts and articles are digital, making access to information easy. Interacting with leaders and colleagues in the field is lively, engaging and instructional. Alliances with other key professional organizations which promote quality services in career assessment and vocational evaluation are ongoing. There are many opportunities where authorship and presentations are shared, advocacy is promoted in larger numbers, and research projects are conceptualized, funded and analyzed. Members can join other organizations in the alliance at much reduced rates, building a sizable force of professionals promoting excellence in career assessment and vocational evaluation.
