What is VECAP?

VECAP is an international membership organization that is committed to improving and advancing the fields of vocational evaluation and career assessment services.

It is beneficial to any professional that assists individuals with determining their vocational interests, potential, skills, and needs, in a variety of settings.

VECAP also welcomes membership from individuals interested in these services, including but not limited to students, educators, and retired practitioners.

Nominate yourself for open board member position, that go up for election at the end of each year. Board members are eligible for CEU credit for volunteering on a board.

Volunteer for special projects; which would be eligible for CEU credit for volunteering on a board.

How do I find out if someone is truly certified in vocational evaluation? What organization can verify that someone is certified and what do I need before I contact such organization?

If the individual is saying they are an International Certified Vocational Evaluator (ICVE), you go to the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals (CVRP) web site public registry at https://cvrp.net/resources/public-registry/, select the certification and put in their name.

If the individual is saying that they are a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE), you go to the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) site and go to Confirm Certification at https://crccertification.com/public/locate-a-professional/, select the certification and put in their name.

You can request that the individual provide you with a copy of their certification and resume; depending on your reason for searching.
Where can I find a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE) or International Certified Vocational Evaluator (ICVE) in my state, where can I find one?

VECAP refers individuals to the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals https://cvrp.net/ as the entity that maintains that ICVE credential and the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification https://crccertification.com/ as the entity that offers the CVE credential.
Can VECAP connect me to members that offer vocational evaluation services in my area? Or I need a vocational evaluation. Can you do them?

As a professional membership association, VECAP does not perform evaluations, endorse services or make referrals. However, VECAP home office vecapoffice@gmail.com can send your contact information upon your request out to VECAP members from your state as available, and ask them to contact you so that you may make an informed choice about services.
What is the ICVE and what does it mean?

The ICVE, International Certified Vocational Evaluator, is a professional certification that assures a practitioner has the specialized skills and expertise to conduct all levels of vocational assessment including comprehensive careerassessment/vocational evaluation. Although International is in the name and the credential can be used for practice outside of the United States, it is recognized in the U.S. as the premier credential in the field due to its rigorous standards. The ICVE requires educational and experiential background, peer review of professional reports, and successful passage of an examination of content knowledge to earn the credential. The ICVE is administered by the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals (CVRP) https://cvrp.net/new-applicants/icve-study-guide/?lang=usa.
